This is a simple yet delicious recipe, it is perfect for pancakes, waffles, cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, ICE CREAM, etc.. There are a few ways to make this recipe in terms of thickness, I will try to make this as easy as possible :D This is two recipes in one post!!
Ingredients
Strawberry Tops
Water
Sugar
Instructions (2 ways)
For Simple Syrup
For cocktails, non-alcoholic drink mixer, cooking, flavoring
Measure out the amount of tops you have and put them in a pot. For every 2 cups of strawberry tops, you want to have 1 cup of water + 1 cup of sugar.
Add all ingredients to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for about 5 minutes, stir frequently.
After 5 minutes, remove from the heat and place a lid over the pot and let it cool to room temperature.
You can transfer it to a container and keep in the fridge for 2-3 weeks or water-bath can for 10 minutes in 6oz or 4oz jars.
For thicker Syrups
For pancakes, waffles, Strawberry Milk, Ice Cream toppings!
Put strawberry tops in a pot and cover with water (no need to measure yet).
Bring to a boil and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Remove from heat and strain the tops, saving the juice!!
Measure the amount of juice you have and pour it back into the pot. Use a 1 to 1 ratio, so if you have 4 cups of juice then you will need to add 4 cups of sugar!
Bring juice to a boil and then simmer on low until it reduces by about 1/4 of the amount. This step should take about 1 hour of simmering. It will be much thicker than the simple syrup, like regular pancake syrup!
Turn off your burner, store it in a container and place in the fridge for 2-3 weeks. For a water bath, process for 10 minutes in 6oz or 4oz jars!
